Packing Fragile Items: Step-by-Step

Glass and Marble Items:

• Wrap with bubble wrap as your first protective layer
• Add padding as a second layer
• Place carefully in a sturdy box
• Transport on the longest side—never flat or upright
• Mark cardboard clearly if it contains glass

Plates and Bowls:

• Pack vertically across the box width
• Bundle no more than five items together
• This arrangement prevents breakage from stacking pressure

Artwork and Pictures:

• Wrap artwork with bubble wrap first
• Add a padding layer
• Cover the outside with cardboard
• Alternatively, use specialized picture boxes that eliminate extra padding needs
• Never bring pictures into storage with only bubble wrap protection

Glasses:

• Position the drinking edge down for optimal protection

During Transport

For interstate and container moves, use proper padding and boxing to prevent damage. Place items against container walls with padding between goods and walls. Ensure draping is done properly—not simply thrown over goods. Quality stacking during transport prevents damage across long distances.
