Nitoflor PU200 - Low VOC Polyurethane Floor Sealer

Product Overview

Nitoflor PU200 is a high-build, cementitious polyurethane top coat designed as a versatile flooring solution for industrial and commercial applications. This product functions as a sealer coating for polyurethane cement floor systems and can also be applied as a standalone coating to concrete substrates.

Key Features and Advantages

Environmental and Health Benefits

Nitoflor PU200 offers low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions with a content of 31 grams per litre, complying with Green Building Council of Australia standards. This environmental advantage makes it suitable for facilities where air quality and occupant health are priorities.

Performance Characteristics

The product delivers excellent chemical resistance to a wide spectrum of organic and inorganic acids, alkalis, amines, salts, and solvents. It is hard-wearing and abrasion-resistant, providing durable protection in demanding industrial environments. Additional benefits include:

  • Low odour and non-tainting during application
  • Fast turnaround times
  • Anti-microbial properties reducing bacterial and mould growth
  • Excellent slip resistance properties when broadcast aggregates are applied
  • HACCP certification for use in food handling areas
  • RCS (Respirable Crystalline Silica) Hazard Free formulation

Application Methods

Primary Applications

1. Sealer Coating for Nitoflor PU600

  • Applied as a single coat at 0.5mm thickness
  • Covers approximately 13.1 m² per 9.5kg kit
  • Encapsulates broadcast anti-slip grains when required

2. Standalone Concrete Coating

  • Applied as two coats at 0.5mm thickness per coat
  • Total coverage of approximately 6.7 m² per 9.5kg kit

Application Technique

The product is applied using squeegee and roller techniques to fully seal the surface. When applying over Nitoflor PU600 or broadcast aggregate layers, the coating must be applied evenly to ensure full exposure of slip-resistant aggregate without overfilling.

Standards Compliance

Nitoflor PU200 complies with AS/ISO 9239.1-2003 Reaction to Fire Tests for Floorings, with certification showing:

  • Critical Heat Flux (CHF): ≥11.0 kW/m²
  • Smoke Value: 7%

The product is HACCP certified for use in food handling areas such as kitchens and production zones.

Slip Resistance Performance (AS4586)

When combined with anti-slip grains and applied over appropriate base coats, Nitoflor PU200 achieves the following ratings:

  • With Nitoflor Anti-Slip Grains 01: R11 slip resistance rating
  • With Nitoflor Anti-Slip Grains 21: R13 slip resistance rating

Storage and Shelf Life

  • Storage Conditions: Cool, dry conditions between 5°C and 30°C in original, unopened packs
  • Part B Hardener Shelf Life: 18 months from manufacture
  • Part C Fillers Shelf Life: 24 months from manufacture

High temperature and humidity conditions may reduce shelf life.

Important Limitations

  • Colour Fastness: The product is not colour fast and may exhibit yellowing over time depending on UV light and heat exposure. This does not compromise performance or chemical resistance.
  • Temperature Restrictions: Not suitable for deep freezing or steam-only cleaning (steam and hot water blend recommended)
  • Surface Preparation: Requires application within 10°C to 30°C ambient temperature range
  • Pot Life: With approximately 15 minutes at 25°C, rapid application is essential after mixing

Substrate Requirements

  • Minimum Concrete Strength: 25 MPa @ 28 days
  • Substrate Moisture: Less than 95% relative humidity
  • Surface Condition: Must be free from dust, dirt, oils, grease, laitance, and biological residues
