Nitoflor FC100 is a one-component, UV-stable, solvent-based clear acrylic floor sealer and coating specifically designed for concrete floors. Application Requirements

• Minimum Coats: Two coats recommended for optimal protection
• Design Thickness: Total dry film thickness of 50-60 microns across both coats
• Application Temperature: Should not be applied below 10°C or where ambient relative humidity exceeds 85%
• Temperature Limitation: Should not be applied when ambient temperature will exceed 30°C during application or within 24 hours after application, to prevent bubbling from solvent entrapment

Chemical Resistance

Nitoflor FC100 is designed to seal concrete and help reduce penetration of oils, dirt, and mild chemicals. However, it has specific limitations:

• Not Resistant To: Concentrated acids, oxidizing agents, aromatic or chlorinated solvents
• Maintenance Practice: Good housekeeping is essential in areas where chemical spillage is likely, as spillage should not be allowed to dry to prevent high chemical concentrations

Surface Preparation

Proper surface preparation is critical for maximum adhesion:

New Concrete Floors

• Dry removal of laitance by light diamond grinding is preferable
• Alternative: 3-5% Hydrochloric acid wash, followed by neutralizing solution
• Thorough rinsing with high-pressure water (2000 psi) and complete drying
• Dust and debris removal by vacuum brush

Old Concrete Floors

• Light diamond grinding to achieve fine texture
• Oil and grease removal by hot compressed air treatment or chemical degreaser
• Test area application to verify sufficient preparation

Critical Requirements

• Substrate must be sound, clean, and dry to achieve maximum adhesion
• Fine textured substrate is essential as Nitoflor FC100 is a relatively thin coating
• Substrate must not suffer from rising damp
• "Slab on ground" concrete floors require damp-proof membrane underneath

Application Method

• Application Tools: Short nap roller, brush, or spray equipment
• Coverage: 6-8 m²/litre per coat
• Application Sequence: First coat should be roller or brush applied, or at least "back-rolled," to assist penetration into concrete
• Coat Intervals: Allow 2-4 hours between coats
• Additional Coats: Three coats may be required on porous or coarse surfaces

Maintenance & Service Life

Regular maintenance significantly extends the service life of Nitoflor FC100 sealed floors:

• Cleaning Method: Regular cleaning using a rotary scrubbing machine with water miscible cleaning agent
• Water Washing: Hot water washing at temperatures up to 50°C is acceptable
• Maintenance Guidance: Refer to the Fosroc "Floor Maintenance Guide" for comprehensive maintenance practices

Limitations & Restrictions

• Rising Damp: Should not be applied to surfaces known to suffer from rising damp
• Heavy Traffic Areas: Durability is reduced in areas of very heavy traffic (around work benches, drinks machines, etc.); consider additional coats or higher-build systems such as Nitoflor FC150 HP in such areas
• Temperature Constraints: Should not be applied at temperatures below 10°C or where ambient relative humidity exceeds 85%
• Ambient Conditions: Should not be applied when ambient temperature will exceed 30°C during application or within 24 hours after application
• Solvent Hazard: Contains significant flammable solvent expelled during drying; sufficient ventilation and relevant OH&S precautions must be employed during and after application

Product Supply

Cleaning & Removal

Nitoflor FC100 should be removed from tools and equipment immediately after use with Fosroc Solvent 10.

Storage

• Storage Location: Must be stored in flameproof areas in accordance with local regulations
• Storage Conditions: Store well away from naked flames, sparks, and heat sources
• Temperature: Store at ambient temperatures below 30°C
• Container Handling: Keep container sealed when not in use
• Flammability: Product contains highly flammable liquids requiring appropriate storage precautions
