Application Rate and Coverage

Nitoprime DG should be applied at specific rates to achieve optimal protection properties:

• Theoretical Application Rate per Coat - 0.4 litres/m²
• Theoretical Coverage - 2.5 m²/litre (depending on substrate porosity)
• Number of Coats - Flood coat application

Overcoating Times

The drying time for Nitoprime DG varies based on ambient temperature:

• @ 20°C - Minimum 2 hours before overcoating
• @ 30°C - Minimum 90 minutes before overcoating

Application should not commence if the substrate temperature is below 2°C.

Primary Uses

Nitoprime DG is designed to prime prepared concrete and masonry surfaces prior to the application of water-based Dekguard coatings, including:

• Dekguard Elastic - An elastomeric protective coating system
• Dekguard E2000 - An elastomeric, pigmented acrylic protective coating

The primer serves as the foundational layer in these complete coating systems, with Nitoprime DG functioning as the penetrating silane-siloxane primer component that prepares substrates for topcoat application.

Substrate Suitability

Standard Application

Nitoprime DG is suitable for priming prepared concrete and masonry surfaces across various applications. However, very porous surfaces may require special treatment and can be primed with Nitoprime DG as an alternative to standard Dekguard Primer, applied at the same coverage rate in continuous multiple coats as necessary.

Important Application Note

The product instructions emphasize that Dekguard Primer should NOT be used as an alternative primer for water-based Dekguard coatings. Nitoprime DG is the correct primer for these systems.

• Shelf Life - 2 years if kept in dry storage in original, unopened packs

Cleaning and Disposal

All tools and equipment should be cleaned immediately after use with Fosroc Solvent 10. Spillages should be absorbed with sand or sawdust and disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
