Nitoflor Colour Pot - Technical Details and Specifications
Overview
Nitoflor Colour Pots are solvent-free coloured pigment components specifically designed to tint various Nitoflor epoxy-based flooring products. These products enable customization of epoxy floor coatings with a comprehensive range of light-reflective colours to create aesthetically pleasing and functional work environments.
Product Description
Nitoflor Colour Pots are pre-measured colour pigments supplied in plastic containers, ready for direct mixing into neutral-coloured Nitoflor base components. The pigments are formulated to disperse quickly and efficiently into the epoxy resin system without requiring additional processing or preparation. Previously marketed as Durafloor Colour Packs, these products maintain consistent quality standards for colour accuracy and performance.
Primary Applications
Nitoflor Colour Pots are used to pigment the following epoxy-based flooring products:
- Nitoflor FC150 HP – Roll-on epoxy coating systems
- Nitoflor FC150 HP FC – Epoxy floor coating variant
- Nitoflor SL – Self-levelling systems
- Nitoflor SLX – Alternative self-levelling formulation
The pots are essential components that transform neutral base systems into finished, coloured flooring solutions.

Mixing Specifications
Nitoflor FC150 HP/SL Requirements
For 8-litre kits: 1 × 700g Nitoflor Colour Pot must be added to the base component.
For 16-litre kits: 2 × 700g Nitoflor Colour Pots must be added to the base component.
Mixing Procedure
The mixing process requires precise execution to ensure uniform colour distribution:
- Initial stage: Stir the base and hardener components separately prior to mixing
- Colour addition: Add the required number of Nitoflor Colour Pots to the base component
- First mix: Mix thoroughly using a low-speed heavy-duty electric drill fitted with a suitable spiral mixer for 1 minute
- Hardener addition: Add the hardener (and fillers if applicable) to the mixture
- Final mix: Continue mixing for a minimum of 3 minutes at 350–500 rpm
- Quality check: Ensure no colour pigment streaking is visible and scrape the side walls of the mixing vessel with a long-bladed spatula to dislodge any unmixed material
Important: For Nitoflor FC150 HP/SL self-leveller applications, mix using a large spiral-type mixing attachment and ensure efficient mixing to eliminate all colour streaking.
Light Reflectance Values (LRV)
Nitoflor FC150 HP/SL colour variants achieve the following Light Reflectance Values according to BS 8493:2008:
| Colour Variant | LRV |
|---|---|
| Black | 5.75% |
| Fern Green | 19.82% |
| Harbour Blue | 20.46% |
| Koala Grey | 33.15% |
| Light Grey Blue | 48.26% |
| Pastel Grey | 70.15% |
| Raspberry | 11.45% |
| Safety Yellow | 51.78% |
| Sand | 58.51% |
| Silver Grey | 64.07% |
| Curtain Call | 14.67% |
| Off White | 84.20% |
| Pipeline Grey | 36.43% |
These values indicate the light-reflecting characteristics of each colour, with higher values indicating brighter, more light-reflective finishes suitable for enhancing workplace visibility and brightness.
Colour Stability and Performance
Colour Darkening Considerations
Care should be taken when selecting colours, as some variants will darken or develop a brown tinge when exposed to sunlight or certain chemicals. This colour shift effect is particularly noticeable on white, light-coloured, and grey systems, whereas it is less noticeable on brown, yellow, and red colours.
Batch Number Consistency
To ensure uniform colour throughout an application area, only components bearing identical batch numbers must be used together. If components with different batch numbers are required for a single application area, contact Fosroc for advice.
Note: Colour manufacturing is performed to achieve results as close as possible to agreed reference samples. However, no guarantee of exact colour matching can be provided due to manufacturing tolerances and natural variations in pigment processing.
