We are not publishing a role or qualifications here, because we do not hold verified current details for this page. Making them up would be worse than leaving them out. What follows is more useful than a biography: who you actually speak to at each stage, and what each of them can and cannot tell you.

Who you speak to, in order

Reception and booking

The first voice you hear. They can tell you what appointments are available, what a consultation costs, where to park, what to bring, and whether you need a referral. They cannot tell you whether a procedure suits you, what it will cost you in total, or what your risks are.

Patient coordinator or consultant

Often the person who talks you through the process, handles paperwork and quotes, and is your point of contact between appointments. Genuinely useful for logistics, timing, costs and coordination.

A coordinator is not a clinician. They should not be assessing you, recommending a procedure, telling you what result you would get, or talking you into anything. If a clinical question comes up, the right answer is "let me get the doctor to answer that" - and if it is not, ask for it.

This is worth saying plainly because in parts of this industry the sales conversation and the clinical conversation are deliberately blurred. Your consultation should be with the practitioner who would treat you.

The practitioner

Assesses you, examines you, explains what is achievable and what is not, sets out the risks specific to you, and answers your questions. This is the appointment that matters, and it is the one you are paying for.

Nursing staff

Prepare you, assist during the procedure, dress wounds, and handle much of your aftercare contact. Usually the people who answer the phone when something worries you afterwards - and they will escalate to a practitioner when it needs escalating.
