NBN Co set to relaunch HFC - blueAPACHE

From 27 April 2018, NBN Co will begin relaunching a phased restart of wholesale HFC Services to retailers nearly after five months of the temporary pause on all new orders over its hybrid fibre-coaxial (HFC) access network to fix technical issues. This is following the launch of fibre-to-the-curb (FTTC), as the company plans to initially release 1000 premises in its HFC access network footprint in Melbourne and Sydney, with another 38,000 to be released in June in selected areas across Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

“We are pleased with the improvements seen from the additional work undertaken while sales have been paused on the HFC network,” said NBN Co chief executive, Bill Marrow.

NBN Co further expects the release of HFC Premises to be further forecasted to hit around 100,000 premises per month. The company has also announced that about 440,000 homes and businesses around Australia will be covered by the FTTC, Increasing the FTTC footprint to reach approximately 1.5 million homes and businesses.
