One rocket launch releases between 200-300 tonnes of CO2, which is emitted right into the atmosphere. For reference, an average passenger vehicle like a combustion engine car releases about 4 tonnes of CO2 per year. There are many concerns around this, but the most prominent is depletion of the stratospheric ozone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If space exploration can make use of more lithium metal batteries, then there\u2019s a good chance we can reduce the amount of carbon emissions per rocket launch.
