• How do I select the right garage door opener?

  If you have a Designer garage door, then we recommend using the Smart Pro garage door opener as our Designer Series doors are often heavy and need the additional strength and lifting power that the Smart Pro provides.

• How long does a garage door opener last? B&D have a 7-year warranty or 20,000 lift and lower cycles (that’s roughly seven to eight cycles a day) on all of our garage door openers, except when purchased with a genuine B&D garage door, at which point we offer our market-leading 10-year total confidence warranty.
• My opener is running but door isn’t moving? Your garage door opener is probably disconnected from your garage door. Follow the below video to reengage your garage door opener. • Why won’t my garage door open when I press the button?

• Should I service my garage door opener? B&D recommends servicing your garage door and opener once in the first 12 months and every two years thereafter. Just like the engine in your car, your garage door opener is made up of a lot of moving parts and needs regular servicing to keep it in tip-top condition.

• Can I add a new B&D opener to a different brand of garage door? No. B&D garage doors and openers are designed and tested to be used together which is why we recommend that you install your new B&D opener on a genuine B&D garage door.
• Can I install a smart garage door opener myself, or do I need to hire a professional? B&D always recommend paying a professional for garage door and opener installation. Garage doors are heavy and when mishandled can seriously damage property or injure those close by. To read more on this check out our article on DIY vs. professional installation.
• What is the automatic closing feature of garage door openers? The automatic closing feature of garage door openers allows you to set a timer for your garage door to automatically close after a certain amount of time, ensuring that your garage door is always closed and secure.
• How can garage door openers improve my home security? All B&D openers have standard security features built in like Automatic Reverse and Automatic Backdrive. Automatic Reverse prevents the door from closing on any obstruction; as soon as the closing door encounters an obstacle in its path, the opener will immediately stop and reverse. Automatic Backdrive is designed to further prevent forced entry, with the opener driving back down if the door is being forced open.
