We begin with the person’s strengths, preferences, environments and what they want life to make easier. Assessment guides a practical plan that can be understood, used and reviewed.

1

Manage difficult emotions

Assessment explores how to manage difficult emotions, looking at strengths, barriers and the support already available.

2

Build confidence and self-advocacy

Practical strategies for building confidence and self-advocacy are shaped around the person’s preferences, routines and everyday environments.

3

Strengthen relationships

Sessions build toward being able to strengthen relationships through relevant practice, useful supports and collaboration with the people involved.

4

Participate more in daily life

Progress toward participating more in daily life through making changes that are meaningful in daily life.

Is NDIS psychology the same as mental health treatment under Medicare?

They can overlap, but NDIS-funded psychology must relate to disability-related functional impact and capacity-building goals. Medicare and the NDIS have different purposes and funding rules.

Will I have to talk about difficult experiences straight away?

No. A psychologist should work at a pace that supports safety, choice and trust. You can discuss preferences, communication needs and boundaries from the beginning.

Do I need a referral?

You can contact Bloom directly. If you have an NDIS plan, our team can also work with your support coordinator, plan manager or other treating professionals.

Where are appointments held?

We primarily support people at home and in the community, with telehealth available when clinically appropriate. Clinic appointments may be available case by case.

Can Bloom work with my existing support team?

Yes. With your consent, we can collaborate with family, support workers, educators and other clinicians so strategies are practical and consistent.

How do I know whether my NDIS plan can fund this service?

Funding depends on whether your support relates to your disability goals and approved budget. If you have Improved Daily Living funding it is more than likely you will be able to access Psychology & Counselling. Our team can discuss your individual needs.
