Downloading your certificates from the aXcelerate learner portal

If you enrolled with us from 2025 onwards, your certificates are in the aXcelerate learner portal. If you enrolled prior to 2025, your records are in the legacy portal instead — see downloading certificates from the legacy portal.

Instructions

In order to download your certificates:

  1. Log in to the CHT Learner Portal powered by aXcelerate.
  2. Open any completed class from your dashboard.
  3. If complete, you will see a notification: "Congratulations, you have certificates available."
  4. Click Download to retrieve the certificate.

See the process in action in our short walkthrough video: https://cht.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/aX_certificates.mp4

If the notification does not appear, the usual cause is that the enrolment is not yet marked complete, that fees remain outstanding, or that we do not hold a verified Unique Student Identifier for you. The sections below explain each of those, because each has a rule behind it rather than a preference.

When your certificate has to exist in the first place

There is a statutory deadline. Once we have assessed you as meeting the requirements of the training product, we must ensure the AQF certification documentation is issued to you within 30 calendar days from the completion of the assessment, provided you:

  1. have completed the AQF qualification, or completed one or more units of an AQF qualification which you have subsequently withdrawn from; and
  2. have paid all agreed fees associated with the training product.

We also must not issue AQF certification documentation to anyone who is not a student we have assessed as meeting the requirements of the training product. So the 30-day clock starts at assessment completion, and it has two conditions attached. If more than 30 calendar days have passed since your assessment was completed, you have paid in full, and nothing is showing in the portal, that is worth a phone call.

Why we need your USI before anything appears

Under section 53 of the Student Identifiers Act 2014, a registered training organisation must not issue a VET qualification or a VET statement of attainment to an individual unless the individual has been assigned a student identifier. There are narrow Ministerial and Registrar exemptions, but the default is absolute: no USI, no certificate. The same prohibition appears again in the Compliance Requirements for RTOs.

Two related obligations change what you will see:

If you need to create or find your USI, see USI.

What should be on the document you download

It is worth knowing what a valid certificate carries, because it is specified and because it is how you tell nationally recognised training from a certificate of attendance.

A VET qualification must include

A VET statement of attainment must include

A short course certificate for a skill set — RSA, Food Safety Supervision, Food Handling — comes to you as a statement of attainment, not a qualification, and is governed by the second list. That is the correct document for a skill set and employers and regulators recognise it as such.

One thing to know about RSA specifically: the statement of attainment we issue for the unit is a separate record from any certificate of completion a liquor regulator issues itself. In Victoria, Liquor Control Victoria treats them as two distinct records. Keep both.

How long we keep your records

There are two retention periods and they are different lengths.

What How long From when
Records of AQF certification documentation issued to you 30 years Issue
Records of all assessments you submitted to us or a third party 2 years After you completed the training product

We must also maintain a register, in accordance with the AQF Qualifications Register Policy, of the AQF qualifications we are authorised to issue and of the AQF qualifications and VET statements of attainment we have issued to students. And — the part that matters most if you studied with us years ago — we must ensure students, including those previously enrolled, are able to access copies of their AQF certification documentation retained under that 30-year rule.

That obligation is why the legacy portal still exists alongside aXcelerate. Your old records did not expire when the platform changed.

Reprints and lost certificates

We will re-issue certificates at the written request of a student. Certificate reprint is charged at $50 and the replacement process takes approximately 10 working days.

A reprint is for a certificate that was already issued. If a certificate was never issued, that is not a reprint — see the 30-day rule above.

Your other record: the authenticated VET transcript

Separately from anything we hold, your USI account gives you an authenticated VET transcript — a national record of nationally recognised training you have completed with any provider. It is generated from the USI system rather than from us.

That transcript matters for two practical reasons. It is the document you use when a certificate from a closed or renamed provider cannot be obtained, and it is one of the two forms of evidence accepted for a credit transfer — the other being AQF certification documentation. See policies and student toolkit for how credit transfer and recognition of prior learning differ.

Questions and answers

Which portal are my certificates in?

aXcelerate if you enrolled from 2025 onwards. The legacy portal if you enrolled prior to 2025 — see downloading certificates from the legacy portal. If you enrolled in both periods, your records may be split across the two; ask us rather than assuming the newer portal holds everything.

I finished my course but there is no certificate in the portal. Why?

The three usual causes are that the enrolment is not yet marked complete, that fees remain outstanding, or that we do not hold a verified USI for you. The issue obligation is conditional on you having completed the qualification or units and having paid all agreed fees, and it cannot be met at all unless you have been assigned a student identifier.

How long should it take?

Within 30 calendar days from the completion of your assessment, provided the two conditions above are met. That is a regulatory deadline, not an internal target.

Why is my USI not printed on my certificate?

Because it must not be. An RTO must not include an individual's student identifier on a VET qualification or VET statement of attainment. Its absence is compliance, not an error.

Why did CHT ask me to confirm my USI details?

Because we are required to ask the Registrar to verify that any student identifier you provide belongs to you, before we use it for any purpose. If your name or date of birth with us does not match your USI record, verification fails and the certificate cannot issue.

I lost my certificate. What do I do?

Request a reprint in writing. It is charged at $50 and takes approximately 10 working days. If you only need proof of the training rather than the original document, your authenticated VET transcript from your USI account may be enough, and it is free.

I studied with CHT years ago. Do you still have my records?

Yes, if they are certification records — those are retained for 30 years. We are also required to ensure that students, including those previously enrolled, can access copies of their retained AQF certification documentation. Assessment evidence is a shorter period: 2 years after you completed the training product.

Can I get copies of my old assessments?

Only within the retention window. Records of assessments submitted to us or to a third party are retained for 2 years after you completed the training product. After that they may no longer exist, while your certification record still will.

Is a statement of attainment worth less than a qualification?

No — it is a different document for a different thing. A qualification records a complete AQF qualification; a statement of attainment records one or more completed units of competency or modules, which is exactly what a skill set such as RSA or Food Safety Supervision produces. Both are nationally recognised and both carry the NRT logo.

What is the NRT logo and why does it matter?

The Nationally Recognised Training logo. Its presence, used in accordance with the NRT Logo Conditions of Use policy, is one of the required elements on both a VET qualification and a VET statement of attainment. A training certificate without it is not a record of nationally recognised training.

My RSA certificate from the regulator looks different from the one from CHT. Which is right?

Both, and you should keep both. The statement of attainment we issue for the unit of competency is a separate record from a certificate of completion a liquor regulator issues itself. In Victoria, Liquor Control Victoria treats them as two distinct records.

What is an authenticated VET transcript?

A national record of the nationally recognised training you have completed with any provider, generated from your USI account rather than by us. It is one of the two forms of evidence accepted for a credit transfer, and it is the fallback when a certificate cannot be obtained from the original provider.

Can I use my certificate to get credit towards another course?

Yes — that is credit transfer, and your AQF certification documentation or your authenticated VET transcript is the evidence for it. Credit transfer requires evidence of prior completion of an equivalent training product. If you have the skills but not the paperwork, that is recognition of prior learning instead. See policies and student toolkit.

Who do I contact?

Call 03 9654 1554 or email info@cht.edu.au, 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday. For anything about your enrolment record itself, have your student details and your USI to hand.

Which portal applies to me?

If you enrolled from 2025 onwards, your certificates are in the aXcelerate learner portal, which is what this page covers. If you enrolled prior to 2025, your records are in the legacy portal instead. See downloading certificates from the legacy portal (/downloading_certificates/).

What are the steps in aXcelerate?

Log in to the CHT Learner Portal powered by aXcelerate, open any completed class from your dashboard, look for the notification "Congratulations, you have certificates available", then click Download to retrieve the certificate.

The notification is not showing. What are the usual causes?

Three: the enrolment is not yet marked complete, fees remain outstanding, or CHT does not hold a verified Unique Student Identifier for you. Each has a rule behind it rather than a preference.

Is there a legal deadline for my certificate to exist?

Yes. Once CHT has assessed you as meeting the requirements of the training product, it must ensure the AQF certification documentation is issued to you within 30 calendar days from the completion of the assessment.

What conditions are attached to that 30-day clock?

Two. You must have completed the AQF qualification, or completed one or more units of an AQF qualification you subsequently withdrew from; and you must have paid all agreed fees associated with the training product.

When is it reasonable to chase it up?

If more than 30 calendar days have passed since your assessment was completed, you have paid in full, and nothing is showing in the portal, that is worth a phone call.

Can CHT issue a certificate to someone it has not assessed?

No. CHT must not issue AQF certification documentation to anyone who is not a student it has assessed as meeting the requirements of the training product.

Why is a USI needed before anything appears?

Under section 53 of the Student Identifiers Act 2014, a registered training organisation must not issue a VET qualification or a VET statement of attainment to an individual unless the individual has been assigned a student identifier. There are narrow Ministerial and Registrar exemptions, but the default is absolute: no USI, no certificate. The same prohibition appears again in the Compliance Requirements for RTOs.

Why is my USI not printed on the certificate?

Because CHT must not include your student identifier on a VET qualification or statement of attainment. Its absence is correct, not an omission.

Why was I asked to confirm my name or date of birth?

That is the verification step. CHT must ask the Registrar to verify that any student identifier you give it belongs to you, before using it for any purpose.

What must appear on a valid VET qualification?

CHT's name, registration code and logo; the code and title of the AQF qualification; the NRT logo used in accordance with the NRT Logo Conditions of Use policy; the signature of an individual CHT has authorised to sign it; CHT's seal, corporate identifier or unique watermark; the statement "The qualification is recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework" or an authorised AQF logo; the industry descriptor where the qualification has one listed on the National Register; the title of the occupational or functional stream in brackets after the code and title where it has one; the statement "Achieved through Australian Apprenticeship arrangements" where applicable; and, where any part was delivered in another language, a statement naming that language and listing the units or modules.

Why does that list matter to me?

Because it is specified, and because it is how you tell nationally recognised training from a certificate of attendance.
