School of Hope is a lean, modern charity model built to support vulnerable children in Uganda.

We operate with no paid employees, no fundraising department and no traditional administrative structure in Australia. Instead, we use AI assisted systems, volunteer governance and direct local coordination to ensure the vast majority of funds reach children.

Over 95% of every donation goes directly to children and programme delivery.

For many of these children, the barrier to education is not ambition. It is cost. School fees, uniforms, meals and basic support determine whether a child is in a classroom or left exposed to the risks of the street.

The problem

When a child is not in school, they are exposed

For vulnerable children in Uganda, missing school is not a small setback. It can place them directly in harm’s way.

A child who is not in school is often on the street, working, hungry, unsupervised or dependent on unsafe adults to survive. That exposure can lead to violence, sexual exploitation, abuse, forced labour, early pregnancy and long term poverty.

These are not abstract risks. They are the realities children face when they have no safe daily structure and no adult consistently checking whether they are protected, fed and learning.

In many cases, the barriers are heartbreakingly small: school fees, a uniform, shoes, books, meals or extra learning support.

School of Hope exists because those barriers can be removed.

And when they are removed, a child is not simply given an education. They are given safety, structure, supervision and a genuine chance to escape the cycle they were born into.

Built to reduce overhead, not expand it

Many large charities do important work, but they also carry significant operating structures including staff, fundraising teams, offices and layered administration.

In FY24, World Vision Australia reported $26.2 million in administration costs and $41.7 million in fundraising expenditure. That is $67.9 million directed to operating functions.

School of Hope has been built differently.

Teachers know if they arrive. Local representatives can check if something is wrong. If a child is falling behind, needs extra help, lacks food, has no uniform, or is at risk of dropping out, we can respond.
