STEP 2: FINDING WHAT IS COMFORTABLE

We may order study models of your mouth that allow our team to model these changes on before being applied to your own teeth. This is a great way to see how changes will impact your bite and aesthetics before they occur. The early stages or restoring a series of worn teeth often involves restoring these teeth with tooth-coloured filling composite material first. This allows for a layer-upon-layer approach to find the most suitable shape, structure and what is comfortable for your bite. Sometimes, when many teeth are being restored due to tooth wear, this can upset your bite if the change is too fast or dramatic – which can be very uncomfortable and is unnecessary. So, a gradual process where the teeth are rebuilt layer-upon-layer allows for the return of your functional smile to be as comfortable as possible, in addition to addressing many immediate visual and aesthetic desires.

RESTORING MISSING TEETH

For many reasons our smiles can become impacted tooth loss can occur. This can also cause significant issues with what we call your ‘functional bite’. Usually a bite is well-balanced when the biting surfaces of the tooth are able to come together into a balanced contact. Missing teeth, or teeth that have become broken, can sometimes create an in-balance meaning that more pressure is placed on the surrounding teeth. HOW MUCH IS A FULL MOUTH RESTORATION?

The costs associated with a full mouth rehabilitation are very important to consider, and is also very difficult to answer without examining your individual needs. However, there are some useful ways to help your research. At Victorian Dental Group, our dental fees are published here on our website. Whilst this page only includes approximate costs of treatment for single tooth veneers and crowns with our general dentists – this gives you an idea. When large regions of the mouth are receiving treatment, we are often able to save on costs in many ways due to treatment taking place within larger appointment blocks. ARE THERE WAYS TO KNOW WHAT MY SMILE WILL LOOK LIKE BEFORE I BEGIN TREATMENT?

Yes, there are! Depending on your unique needs we utilise a smile design platform to create digital mock-ups of your final smile. We may order a study model of your mouth, which allows our dentists to work with a replica of your mouth to explore any potential treatment options that have been discussed and to then present these to you for your consideration.

CAN I USE MY PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE EXTRAS TOWARDS MY SMILE RECONSTRUCTION TREATMENT?

Yes, you can. We have on the spot claiming via hi-caps. You just need to bring your card with you and depending on the level of your cover available, you will only need to pay any applicable gap payment on the day. During your VDG Treatment Consult, we can obtain a quote for you from your health insurer for the treatment that is discussed (You must have your health insurance card on you to do this). This is a great and easy process to give you an idea of what you will get back for your treatment.

DO YOU HAVE INTEREST FREE PAYMENT PLANS AVAILABLE FOR FULL MOUTH REHABILITATION?

Yes absolutely. You can access Interest-Free Payments plans via Afterpay, Zippay, and Openpay services to cover some or potentially all of your treatment invoices. Our reception team can assist with setting these up and finding plan durations and repayment amounts that suit you.

CAN A FULL-MOUTH RESTORATION WITH PORCELAIN CROWNS OCCUR?

Yes, it can. In some cases (pending clinical need and budget) a full mouth of Dental Crowns is not an uncommon long-term treatment option for reconstructing a smile, but it is definitely not the only option available.

CAN A FULL MOUTH RECONSTRUCTION BE DONE WITH DENTAL IMPLANTS?

Potentially. There are many options available now with dental implants that allow for a larger units of teeth to be placed with one or two dental implants providing an anchor point. Dental Implants are designed to replace tooth roots. If teeth are required to be replaced entirely, dental implants can be a great option if suitable. This is a complex set of treatment options, so we recommend chatting to our dental team.

HOW LONG DOES A FULL MOUTH RECONSTRUCTION TAKE?

The length of a time it takes to complete a full mouth reconstruction is a tricky question to answer. Arguably, reconstruction of your mouth is amongst the most complex cosmetic dental procedure that can be undertaken, and it is not something that should be rushed. If you have a special event that you are aiming towards have your smile ready for, please do consider starting your journey early. Depending on your scenario, reconstruction cases can be completed within a month. However, sometimes in complex cases where many combinations or treatment options are taking place, this can boccur over several months and up to one-year if dental implants or bone grafting is required. An approximate duration and timeing schedules is inlcuded as part of your VDG Treatment Plan.
