AT VICTORIAN DENTAL GROUP WE UTILIZE THE LATEST IN DIGITAL DENTAL X-RAY AND ORTHOPANTOMOGRAM (OPG) TECHNOLOGY.

DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY

By using advanced phosphor plate technology radiation levels are reduced in comparison to traditional film-based x-ray units. Results are instantaneous – so you can see what we see straight away on the screen Infront of you.

We also have a state-of-the-art Orthopantomogram (OPG) x-ray machine which allows us to take full mouth x-rays on the spot, instead of having to send you away to a radiography centre costing time and delaying treatment.

There are many different types of dental x-rays that can be taken that varies depending on what requires investigating. Your dental practitioner will always consider your previous oral health, age, risk of oral disease, and importantly when your last dental x-rays were taken.

WE ARE ABLE TO ORGANISE THE TRANSFER OF ANY PREVIOUS DENTAL X-RAYS THAT YOU HAVE HAD TAKEN AT ANOTHER FACILITY.

What can Dental X-rays Find?

Decay starting in-between teeth
The health status of gum and bones around your teeth
Status of existing fillings, crowns, bridges or root canals
Infections around the teeth
Developmental issues with teeth, e.g. extra teeth, missing teeth
Trauma to teeth and surrounding bone
Position and possible complications of wisdom teeth

ARE DENTAL XRAYS SAFE?

Dental x-rays produce minimal radiation that is less much less than the daily background radiation an individual typically receives. Check out the chart below for more information:
