DENTAL BRIDGE

A Dental Bridge is a prosthetic appliance that replaces missing teeth. A Dental Bridge is usually made of porcelain that is fused to metal to achieve both strength and a natural aesthetic.

WHAT IS A DENTAL BRIDGE?

A Dental Bridge comprises of 1 or more prosthetic teeth suspended off a dental crown at either end that collectively spans the gap of your missing teeth.

The tooth on each end of the bridge is prepared much the same as a Dental Crown. Once the bridge is inserted and cemented you will be able to chew as normal on your new natural looking smile

COMMON TYPES OF DENTAL BRIDGES

CONVENTIONAL BRIDGE

A Conventional Bridge uses two crowns that fit on the two teeth adjacent to the missing tooth. A bridge can be made of porcelain or metal, or a combination of the two. The material selection for the bridge depends on patient’s preference and the clinical situation

MARYLAND BRIDGE

A Maryland bridge or Resin Bonded Bridge can in some cases be used to replace a missing front tooth. The advantage of using a Maryland Bridge is that it requires no tooth preparation or a very minimal one.

CANTILEVER BRIDGE

A Cantilever Bridge also replaces one missing tooth but using only one crown that fits on one tooth adjacent to the missing tooth. It is less commonly used compared to a Conventional Bridge.

IMPLANT RETAINED BRIDGE

An Implant Retained Bridge involves placement of two implants to provide structure for the replacement of multiple missing teeth. This option is suited to when there are a few missing teeth next to one another.
