Open Summit AI Sydney 2027

Thursday 27 May 2027 · Sydney Town Hall · Doors 11am · Programme noon–3pm

We're returning to Sydney Town Hall with a programme for people making decisions about AI inside a business. Founders, operators and senior leaders share one stage programme, with talks and conversations spanning research, enterprise adoption, customer discovery and the work of building AI-enabled businesses.

Our announced 2027 speakers include Frank Greeff, Julian Fayad, Toby Walsh, Clayton Cross, Jack Bear, John McGiffin, Kate Save and Georgie Healy. Their backgrounds connect technology with business operations, finance, communication and the decisions involved in putting AI to use.

Timing and the one-stage format

For Sydney, we have doors from 11am and a noon-to-3pm main programme. That gives you a three-hour stage programme with registration and networking beforehand. Further networking takes place around the afternoon.

Individual sessions, speaking times and the complete run sheet are still to be announced. The event's one-stage format means attendees share the same core talks rather than choosing between parallel tracks. Teams can compare the same material from different roles and discuss its relevance to their business afterwards.

You do not need a technical background to attend. We focus on the implications of AI for business: what changes in a workflow, what an implementation requires, where it creates value and how people use it.

Announced Sydney speakers

Frank Greeff is Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Kinso AI, an intelligent inbox that brings together messages, emails and contacts, identifies important conversations and drafts replies. He previously co-founded Realbase, which Domain acquired in 2022. His background brings an operator's perspective to simplifying business communication.

Julian Fayad, Founder and CEO of LoanOptions.ai, combines a finance-broker background with self-taught software development. He bootstrapped the AI-powered Australian fintech in 2020 and also hosts the Lost & Founders podcast. His work provides a business-building perspective on applying technology to an established customer process.

Toby Walsh is Scientia Professor of AI at UNSW and a fellow of the Australian Academy of Science. He brings research context to the conversation about AI's capabilities and direction.

Clayton Cross, CEO and Founder of Ellipsis Mining, works across investment, technology and AI operations. His previous Open Summit material connects model economics with the operating systems built around them.

Jack Bear, Founder of Norg AI, works on how businesses appear in AI-generated answers and how agents discover information. That perspective is relevant to the changing path between a customer's question and a business.

John McGiffin, Co-Founder of Natural Velocity, focuses on practical, responsible AI adoption and the work involved in turning emerging technology into enterprise value.

Kate Save joins us as MC and host. She is CEO of Be Fit Food and host of the Inspired CEO podcast, with experience building a national food business.

Georgie Healy, founder of In the Blink of AI, brings conversations with people putting AI to work into the panel discussion. Her work also includes the newsletter Attention Is All I Need and previous leadership of Google's AI First Accelerator.

We'll announce more Sydney speakers, individual session titles and our final timetable here as the programme develops.

What happened at Sydney in 2026

We held our previous Sydney event at Sydney Town Hall on 23 July 2026. We began the afternoon with Kate Save's welcome at noon. Toby Walsh spoke on where AI was heading, Clayton Cross on capital and AI, and Jack Bear on discovery in the age of AI.

After an intermission, the operators' panel and audience Q&A ran for 54 minutes, followed by John McGiffin's session on moving from hype to value. The programme finished at 3pm. This is an example of a completed Open Summit afternoon, not the run sheet for May 2027.

Our Sydney highlights film and event photographs take you back into our 2026 room. You can also explore three speaker decks: Clayton Cross's presentation on operating advantage, John McGiffin's enterprise AI roadmap and Jack Bear's presentation on the agent economy. Together, they provide tangible examples of the work behind our series.

Get more from the afternoon

Come with a decision you want to examine. For example, a team evaluating an AI pilot could listen for the requirements of moving it into daily use. A business reviewing marketing could focus on how AI changes discovery. An owner considering investment could compare those possibilities with operating costs and the time needed to implement them.

These are ways to use the programme, rather than guaranteed outcomes. The most useful next step will depend on your own business. Attending with colleagues gives you a shared conversation to continue after the event.
