How to compare ready-made meals for your weight loss goals

A useful comparison starts with the food you will actually receive: the recipe, portion, nutrition information and complete order cost. Be Fit Food offers individual meals, bundles and structured programs, so you can compare those formats with the other options you are considering.

The earlier brand comparison on this page used figures collected on 3 June 2020. Those historical product figures and rankings should not guide a current purchase. This updated guide focuses on reading current labels and checking the practical details that matter to your order.

Read the label · Compare meal examples · Compare the whole order

Read both nutrition columns

Food Standards Australia New Zealand explains that nutrition panels show average quantities per serving and per 100 g, or per 100 mL for liquids. Serving sizes are set by the food business and can differ between products. Use the per-serving column to understand the stated portion, and the per-100-g column to compare similar foods on the same weight basis. See the FSANZ nutrition information panel guide.

Check the number of servings in the package too. A single meal and a multi-serve snack pack are different units of purchase. If you plan to add sides or eat a different portion, the meal panel alone will not represent everything you eat.

Compare the details that matter to you

The sugars figure includes both naturally occurring and added sugars; it does not isolate added sugar. Read the ingredients as well. FSANZ explains total sugars and sugar labelling.

Three Be Fit Food examples

The following values were checked against the nutrition panels linked from these product pages on 19 October 2026. Each panel lists one serving per package. They are examples of different recipes, not averages for the range or a ranking against other brands.

To compare the per-100-g values, Italian Beef Meatballs lists 466 kJ and 149 mg sodium per 100 g; South American Chilli lists 249 kJ and 104 mg sodium per 100 g. Those figures compare equal weights, while the table above compares the complete stated servings.

Check the recipe and allergens alongside the numbers

These meals differ in more than nutrition. Italian Beef Meatballs includes gluten-free penne and declares egg, milk and soybeans. Wholemeal Beef Lasagne declares wheat, gluten and milk, despite the older “gf” wording in its web address. South American Chilli is labelled vegan and gluten-free, declares soybeans and carries its own may-contain statements.

Open the full product details before choosing for an allergy or dietary requirement. A product name, photo or collection filter does not replace the complete ingredient and allergen information.

Compare the whole order

Once you have a shortlist of recipes, compare the same quantity and format across your options:

  1. Count meals and servings. A 14-meal bundle is different from a 14-day program that includes several food categories.
  2. Check what is included. Look for breakfast, main meals, snack packs and any extras, and read the serving quantity of multi-serve packs.
  3. Check how the menu is chosen. A pre-selected box has a listed combination; a customisable option lets you review your own selection.
  4. Compare the final cost. Include the selected foods, optional extras and delivery charges rather than relying only on a headline starting price.
  5. Check practical fit. Review delivery coverage, timing, storage space and preparation instructions, along with any ongoing-order terms you select.

Questions about comparing meals

Can I use an old brand comparison to decide what to buy?

Check the current products and labels. Recipes, serving sizes, prices and available ranges can change, so the 2020 figures previously shown here do not establish a current brand ranking.

Does one nutrition number tell me which meal to choose?

Use the full recipe, portion and nutrition information together with your preferences and requirements. The examples show that different meals have different profiles; one figure does not describe the complete order.

Will choosing a meal predict how much weight I lose?

A product nutrition panel describes the food, not an individual result. Use current food information and appropriate personal guidance when choosing an approach.
