Sustainability at Be Fit Food

Choosing prepared food involves more than the meal itself. It also means thinking about what you will use, how you will store it and what happens to the packaging afterwards. Our frozen meals and packaging choices are part of that practical approach.

Frozen food that fits your week

We supply snap-frozen prepared meals so you can organise food ahead and choose what to use when you need it. Planning the meals you will eat and keeping track of the food already in your freezer can help you avoid buying more than you use.

Start with the number of lunches or dinners you want covered, then compare individual meals and meal bundles. A larger order only makes practical sense when you have storage space and a plan for the food.

Follow each pack's storage, preparation and date instructions. Frozen food still needs appropriate handling: Food Standards Australia New Zealand advises against thawing frozen food at room temperature. Check the individual product instructions rather than assuming every breakfast, snack and main meal is prepared in the same way.

Our meal trays

Our packaging information identifies Evolve by Faerch trays. Faerch describes Evolve as packaging made using post-consumer recycled material, including recovered bottles and trays. Its naturally varying colours reflect the recycled material blend.

Recycled content and recycling after use are different things. Recycled content describes what went into making a pack; your local collection rules determine how to dispose of that pack after eating. Check the markings on the actual tray and lid separately.

Thermal liners

Our packaging information also identifies Sancell Silver Sheen liners. Sancell's current product information says its Silver Sheen Air and Eco materials incorporate Phoenix with 50% recycled content, including post-consumer and post-industrial material. This is the supplier's material specification, rather than a claim that every component of a Be Fit Food delivery has the same recycled percentage.

The thermal liner is a different packaging component from the meal tray. Do not assume it belongs in the same recycling stream simply because both contain recycled material.

Sort each part of the packaging

Component	What to check
Meal tray	Read the recycling markings and your council's accepted rigid-plastic guidance. Follow its instructions about emptying and cleaning.
Lid or film	Check its own material and disposal instructions; the tray's instructions may not apply to the lid.
Thermal liner	Confirm which collection service accepts that specific material. Keep it separate from rigid trays when the instructions require it.
Outer box and other packing	Check each component's markings and local rules, rather than treating the entire delivery as one material.

Planet Ark's Recycling Near You explains that soft-plastic collection options vary. Check current local services before placing packaging in a household recycling bin; a supplier describing a material as recyclable does not establish that your kerbside service accepts it.

Questions about food and packaging

Does frozen automatically mean more nutritious?

Use the nutrition panel for the meal you are considering. The fact that a meal is frozen does not, by itself, establish that it is nutritionally better than another food.

Does recycled content mean compostable?

No. Follow the actual material and disposal instructions. Do not put plastic packaging into compost based on a recycled-content claim.

What if I cannot identify a component?

Email support@befitfood.com.au with the packaging details or a photo, then check the relevant local disposal advice.

Our doctor- and dietitian-designed meals are supplied frozen. Explore the current menu and compare ingredients, allergens and nutrition for each product.
