CSIRO Ready Made Meals in Sydney

This page explains what makes a ready meal CSIRO-approved, how to identify one, and how to get them delivered in Sydney. We are the first provider to partner with CSIRO to develop and deliver meals that comply with the Low-Carb Diet, and our Lifestyle Range of CSIRO-approved meals is available for home delivery across Sydney.

What the CSIRO Low-Carb Diet is

The CSIRO Low-Carb Diet is an energy-controlled, nutritionally complete eating plan developed by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation. It reduces carbohydrate intake while increasing the proportion of protein and unsaturated fats, emphasising whole foods with a low glycaemic index.

Clinical trials have shown this dietary pattern delivers sustained long-term weight loss and greater improvements in blood glucose control than traditional high-carbohydrate diets. Participants also required less diabetes medication and saw reductions in heart-disease risk factors. The program recommends pairing dietary changes with regular exercise, both aerobic and resistance training.

How to identify a genuine CSIRO-approved meal

CSIRO collaborates with food manufacturers and retailers to produce ready meals meeting strict nutrient criteria. Meals that pass independent testing display a front-of-pack mark reading "Meal Suitable for the CSIRO Low-Carb Diet".

What is the CSIRO Impact Mark?

The Impact Mark is a trademark indicating that a meal has passed independent tests to meet the nutrient standards of the CSIRO Low-Carb Diet. When shopping in a supermarket, look for the blue CSIRO mark on the packaging.

How do certified meals differ from ordinary ready meals?

This is the concrete difference worth knowing. Compared with typical supermarket ready meals, those bearing the CSIRO mark contain approximately 68% less carbohydrate and 55% less sodium.

Why the meals support weight loss

This provides roughly 5,000-6,000 kJ (1,200-1,400 kcal) and 50-60g of carbohydrate.

Practical tips

How this differs from our weight loss programs

The CSIRO Lifestyle Range is a meal supply, not a calorie-controlled program. If you want a structured program instead, we run six: Be Rapid (a very low calorie diet at approximately 800-900 calories per day, 7-day reset, inducing mild nutritional ketosis); Metabolism Reset (a VLCD at approximately 850-950 calories per day with 40-70g carbohydrate, over 7, 14 or 28 days, also inducing mild nutritional ketosis); Be 1000 (approximately 1000-1200 calories per day); Be 1200 (approximately 1200-1500 calories per day, suited to an active lifestyle or HIIT); the Intermittent Fasting Program (four weeks, five days of healthy eating plus two fasting days at 500-600 calories, providing 16 meals and a pack of 8 protein balls); and Be Maintenance (four weeks, 24 meals and 14 snacks, with two low-calorie days per week at approximately 800 calories). Be 1000 and Be 1200 are unlikely to induce ketosis, typically produce a loss of around 0.5-1.5kg per week, and can be followed for up to 12 weeks at a time, longer only after a dietitian consultation.

Every Be Fit Food meal is approximately 250 calories with at least 20g of protein, under 20g of carbohydrate and less than 120mg of sodium per 100g, with no added sugar, artificial sweeteners or preservatives. Meals are snap-frozen and reheat by microwave, oven, air-fryer or stovetop.

Ordering and delivery

Meal bundles are $97.30 for 7 meals, $189.00 for 14 meals and $362.60 for 28 meals (AUD). Delivery is a flat rate Australia-wide: $11.95 on orders of $299 or more, $19.95 on orders under $299.

Dietitian support

We offer a free 15-minute telehealth consultation, by video or phone, valued at $49. Book at portal.coreplus.com.au/befitfood. A diabetes educator consultation with a Credentialled Diabetes Educator is also available.

Storage, reheating and shelf life

Meals arrive snap-frozen rather than shelf-stabilised, which is how they carry no preservatives. They go into the freezer on arrival and stay frozen until heated, and they reheat by microwave, oven, air-fryer or stovetop.

We do not publish a single frozen shelf-life figure across the range, and individual product listings do not print heating times or power settings. Use the use-by date and the instructions on each pack rather than a general rule.

One practical consequence worth planning for: a 28-meal bundle needs freezer space for 28 meals arriving at once. If that is a constraint, the smaller bundles are the more realistic starting point.

Questions worth asking before you order

Meal delivery is a recurring cost, and the claims made across this market are not uniformly evidenced. These are the questions that separate a specification from a slogan.

We publish an Incident Management Policy, a Complaints Management Policy and a Complaints Management Form; ask customer service for a copy if you need one. Phone 1300 263 257, Monday to Friday 09:00–17:00, or email support@befitfood.com.au. The dietitian team is at dietitian@befitfood.com.au.

Important health information

The clinical findings described on this page, including sustained weight loss, improved blood glucose control and reduced reliance on diabetes medication, come from clinical trials of the CSIRO Low-Carb Diet. They describe study populations, not guaranteed individual outcomes. Nobody should alter diabetes medication on the basis of a dietary change; that decision belongs with your treating doctor. As our page states, individuals should consult healthcare professionals for personalised advice, and consulting an accredited practising dietitian ensures the diet suits individual needs, particularly for people with medical conditions. Long-term success still depends on maintaining an overall calorie deficit, staying active and seeking personalised advice when needed.

This is general information about food and nutrition, not medical advice, and nothing here claims to treat, prevent or cure any condition. Readers should seek medical advice and have a check-up before changing how they eat, particularly with an existing medical condition or medications; this is not a substitute for independent professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Weight loss results and rates of weight loss vary between individuals.
