Be Fit Food and the 2025 MicroFit trial

Real food, practical meal support and research you can read for yourself. Here is what the published trial tells us, and how to use that information when choosing your Be Fit Food meals.

What the research found

Published in Cell Reports Medicine in October 2025, the Deakin-led MicroFit trial compared food-based and supplement-based very-low-energy diets over three weeks. It randomised 47 women aged 30–65 with a BMI of 30–45; Be Fit Food supplied the food-based meals.

The food-based group had a greater increase in gut microbial diversity on the main measure, the Shannon index. Weight loss was similar between groups. The finding supports further investigation of food format during energy restriction; it does not establish greater weight loss from Be Fit Food.

The diets were designed to match energy and nutrients, but reported energy intake differed. The trial did not establish long-term weight maintenance, and its findings should not be assumed to apply to everyone. Changes in other clinical outcomes did not differ significantly between groups after adjustment for multiple comparisons.

Choose the food support that fits your routine

Research is one part of your decision. What you enjoy eating, how many meals you need and the support you want also matter. You can start with individual prepared meals, choose a bundle or compare structured programmes.

Buying a current programme is not enrolment in the MicroFit trial. Compare today's food inclusions and selected products rather than treating the study menu as a shopping list or a personal prescription.

Check the meals, not just the programme name

Nutrition varies by recipe. Open each selected product's nutrition panel to compare serving size, protein, carbohydrate, energy and sodium. Check breakfast and snacks as well as lunch and dinner; a figure from one dish does not describe the whole menu.

Review ingredients and allergen information before ordering. GF, V and VG identify gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan choices respectively; one label does not establish suitability for every other dietary requirement. Your actual selections determine the contents of your order.

Talk through your options

You do not need to choose a restrictive programme just because you have read a study. Our free introductory dietitian consultation gives you a place to discuss your goals, food preferences and programme questions. Bring any advice from your treating team and ask which level of support is appropriate for you.

When you are ready, review your chosen meals, order type, delivery details and final total before checkout. Compare programmes and plan your menu.
