What's The Go With Mangoes
by Kate Save on Dec 16, 2019This delicious summer-favourite fruit is now in season. Mangoes are full of nutritional goodness & packed full of Vitamin C. Did you know that one mango is three times your recommended daily intake of Vitamin C?
Vitamin C plays a role in collagen synthesis and can have an anti-ageing effect. As an antioxidant, it fights off free radicals that can otherwise be damaging to the fibres that support skin structure (collagen and elastin). Vitamin C can also assist with the absorption of iron which is important for transporting oxygen around the body.
Mangoes also contain beta carotene, which is the colour pigment in fruits and vegetables of red or orange nature. The body converts beta carotene into Vitamin A which is important for healthy skin, eyesight and our immune system. Vitamin A is also an antioxidant in the body which helps the body fight against free-radicals produced in the body.
Mangoes are also a rich source of the mineral potassium which is an electrolyte involved with proper nerve and muscle function.
With their powerful nutritional content, mangoes are also quite versatile and can be used in salads or frozen for healthy summer snacks. Check out some different healthy ways you can enjoy mango this summer as part of your diet:
