What is Be Fit Food, which program is right for you, and how do you get started?

Be Fit Food is an Australian meal delivery service founded in 2015 by Kate Save, an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Exercise Physiologist. We make snap-frozen, perfectly portioned, low-carb meals designed for weight loss and better metabolic health — real food, ready when you are, with no shopping, no cooking and no cleaning. You can order meals one at a time, or follow a structured program with a set length and a clear calorie target. We are a registered NDIS meal provider, and our Accredited Practising Dietitians are here to talk things through with you. To get started, call 1300 263 257 (Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm), email support@befitfood.com.au, or book a free 15-minute chat with a dietitian.

The rest of this page covers the things that are genuinely hard to work out on your own: who we are, which program suits your goal, what a day actually looks like, what to expect in your first week, where we deliver, and what happens once you order.

Who Be Fit Food is

Our goal has not changed since day one: to help Australians eat themselves better. Australia's obesity rates keep climbing, and there is very little education about what added sugar, sodium, high-carb and oversized portions do — not just to your weight, but to your health overall. That is the gap we exist to fill.

Be Fit Food was founded by Kate Save, an Accredited Practising Dietitian, Exercise Physiologist and Credentialled Diabetes Educator who has worked with people struggling with weight loss and weight management for more than 20 years. Kate is our CEO, and since May 2023 she has been the sole owner of the business. Our recipes are created by our team of dietitians and designed to bring the body into mild nutritional ketosis, so it burns stored fat rather than carbohydrates — which is why customers report feeling fuller for longer, having steadier energy, sleeping better, and seeing improvements in cholesterol and blood sugar.

We are not experts in writing. We are experts in scientific weight loss. So here is the short version of the journey:

Which program is right for you

Our programs differ in one main way: how many calories you eat each day, and for how long. Get that choice right and everything else falls into place. If you are not sure, that is completely normal — it is the most common question our dietitians are asked.

ProgramLengthEach dayChoose it when
Be Rapid7 daysVery low calorieYou want a short, sharp reset, or a fresh start after things have drifted
Metabolism Reset (VLCD)7, 14 or 28 daysAbout 850–950 calories, 40–70g carbsYou want the fastest medically formulated result and can commit to all three meals
Intermittent Fasting4 weeksAbout 500 calories, 50g protein, on 2 days a weekYou would rather eat normally most days and fast two
1200 calories7 daysAbout 1200 caloriesYou want steady progress while staying active
1500 calories7 daysAbout 1500 caloriesYou are training hard, maintaining, or losing gradually

The Metabolism Reset and Be Rapid are Very Low Calorie Diets, formulated to bring on mild nutritional ketosis. On average our customers lose 1 to 1.5kg a week on these programs, and around 5.89kg across the first two weeks of a Metabolism Reset. We recommend running it for two to eight weeks at a time. If you want to stay on it longer than eight weeks, talk to our dietitians first so someone is keeping an eye on things with you.

The gradual programs work differently. At 1200 or 1500 calories a day you are not aiming for ketosis — you are eating a controlled, balanced intake that fits around training, work and family, and losing weight more slowly. Neither approach is better. They suit different lives.

What a day actually looks like

On a Metabolism Reset or Be Rapid program, a day is built from:

That last part matters more than people expect. The extras guide is what stops the week feeling repetitive, and it is why you are never just eating from a packet. A handful of steamed greens next to your dinner costs you almost nothing in calories and changes the whole meal.

A few things that make the difference between a hard week and an easy one:

What to expect in your first week

We would rather you start with your eyes open, so here is the honest version. As your body shifts into mild nutritional ketosis, you may notice some side effects in the first four to five days:

These are temporary and they pass as your body adapts. Knowing they are coming is half the battle — most people who stop in the first week stop because they thought something had gone wrong, when it was simply their body adjusting. If anything worries you, call us. That is what the dietitians are there for.

What goes into every meal

Every meal is built to the same clinical specification. That consistency is what lets you swap meals freely inside a program without doing any maths:

We snap-freeze every meal to lock the nutrients in, so it arrives frozen and goes straight into your freezer. When you are ready, heat it in the microwave, oven, air-fryer or on the stovetop — instructions are on the label. Our meals follow CSIRO Low Carb Diet principles, which is why that carbohydrate ceiling holds across the whole range rather than meal by meal.

Who Be Fit Food is for

Most of our customers arrive through one of these doors:

If none of those quite describe you, the free 15-minute call is the fastest way to find out whether we are a good fit. Our dietitians will tell you if we are not.

If you are taking a GLP-1 medication

If you are on Ozempic, Wegovy or another GLP-1 medication, the medication does part of the job and your food does the rest. Appetite drops sharply on these medications, which makes it very easy to under-eat protein — and that is exactly when you start losing muscle alongside fat.

That is the problem our meals happen to be built for. Every one carries 20g or more protein in about 250 calories, so you can hit your protein target on a small appetite without thinking about it. We also publish detailed guidance — see our Ozempic FAQ and Wegovy FAQ — covering protein needs, fibre and gut health while you are on these medications. If you are on a GLP-1 and unsure how to eat around it, start with the free consultation.

What the dietary labels mean

You will see suffixes on our meal names. (GF) is gluten free, (V) is vegetarian and (VG) is vegan. A meal can carry more than one.

Two questions come up again and again:

Keto or low carb? Every Be Fit Food meal is low carb — under 20g a serve — so the whole menu works for a low-carb approach. Our keto collection is the tighter selection chosen for ketogenic macros. If you simply want fewer carbs, you have the run of the menu.

High protein or low calorie? Good news — you rarely have to choose. Our meals hold calories near 250 while keeping protein above 20g. Reach for the high protein collection when you are training or protecting muscle, and filter by calories when you are working to a daily number.

We also have collections for gluten free, vegetarian, dairy free and halal eating. Every product page lists the full ingredients and allergen statement, including "may contain" warnings. If you manage a diagnosed allergy, please read those directly rather than relying on the collection name.

How we compare

We ran our own brand comparison against the other major Australian ready-meal brands, so please read it as ours rather than as an independent review. On the nutrition numbers, Be Fit Food came out lowest on kilojoules, saturated fat, carbohydrates, sugars and sodium.

Sodium is the clearest gap. All our meals sit under 120mg per 100g — our Italian Beef Meatballs contain 143mg for the whole meal. Lite n' Easy's Tasmanian Salmon Pasta contains 809.2mg, and Youfoodz's Slow-Cooked BBQ Beef & Mash contains 893mg. Weight Watchers meals range from 282mg to 757mg. On energy, most of our meals land near 250 calories, where comparable meals from Weight Watchers and Lite n' Easy run from about 1,580 to 2,240 kilojoules.

If sodium matters for your blood pressure or your heart, that difference is the one worth paying attention to.

Our dietitians are part of the deal

You do not have to work this out alone. Our Accredited Practising Dietitians sit inside the business, not beside it, and several of these services cost nothing:

ServiceWhat you get
Free dietitian phone consultation15 minutes to find the plan that fits your life. No cost, no obligation.
Specialised clinical dietitian consultationA full assessment — body composition, blood pressure, girths, what you eat now and how you move — then an eating plan built around you.
Monthly weight management subscriptionA 30-minute start, then a 15-minute review every month, so you always have someone in your corner.
Diabetes educator consultationOne-to-one support from a Credentialled Diabetes Educator if you are managing diabetes.

You can reach our dietitians any time at dietitian@befitfood.com.au. If you need care beyond what we offer, our health professionals directory will point you somewhere good.

When a very low calorie program is not the right fit

A word of care, because it matters more than a sale. Very low calorie programs are not suitable for everyone, and we would rather tell you that now than take an order that was never going to work.

Please talk to one of our dietitians or your GP before starting a VLCD if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, take medication that affects your blood glucose, manage an existing health condition, or are simply not sure. We recommend a medical check-up before starting if any of that applies to you. The free consultation exists for exactly this conversation, and if a Reset is not right for you, our dietitians will say so and help you find something that is — often one of the gradual 1200 or 1500 calorie plans instead.

Where we deliver

We deliver frozen meals across most of Australia. Coverage is organised by postcode region rather than by city alone, so a regional address is often included even when the nearest capital is hours away.

Victoria: Melbourne Metro, Geelong, Mornington Peninsula, Yarra Ranges, Gippsland and Gippsland South, Ballarat and Bendigo, Central Highlands, Shepparton, Albury, and western, south-western, north-western and regional Victoria.

Interstate: New South Wales including Sydney and regional NSW, the ACT, Queensland up to Cairns and Far North Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania.

The definitive answer for your address is the postcode list on our delivery routes page — check there rather than assuming from your city. We also have local guides for Melbourne and Geelong.

Cut-offs work on a fixed weekly rhythm. In Melbourne Metro, the Mornington Peninsula and the Yarra Ranges, for example, orders close at 8:00am on the cut-off day for delivery later that week — order by Wednesday 8:00am for Monday delivery, or by Monday 8:00am for Wednesday or Thursday. Every region has its own pairing, and they shift around public holidays, so check delivery dates and cut-off times before you plan your first week. If you are local, you can also visit our Mornington or Mordialloc stores in Victoria, both of which offer a complimentary body composition scan.

Ordering, changes and refunds

Delivery is flat rate, and it depends only on your order size:

Changing an order. Because meals are picked and packed against a fixed cut-off, the cut-off time for your region is the practical deadline for changes. If you need to alter or move an order, call 1300 263 257 before your cut-off rather than after it.

Refunds. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law always apply. On top of those: if there is a major fault with a product you are entitled to a refund or replacement at our discretion, and if the problem is minor you are entitled to a replacement, refund or gift voucher. We are not able to refund for a change of mind or taste preference — so if you are unsure whether the food suits you, start with a 7 meal bundle rather than a 28. Refunds are processed back to the payment method you used.

Ongoing support. The monthly weight management subscription is our recurring dietitian service rather than a meal subscription — meals are ordered as you need them.

Common questions

Do I need a referral or a diagnosis to order? No. Anyone can order meals or a program directly. A referral is only relevant if you are claiming through a scheme such as NDIS, and a diagnosis only matters in the sense that some health conditions make a very low calorie program unsuitable without dietitian input.

How quickly will my order arrive? That depends on your region's cut-off and delivery day pairing rather than on a fixed number of days. Order before your cut-off and your delivery lands on the next scheduled day for your area — usually within the same week.

Do the meals arrive frozen, and what if I am not home? Meals are snap-frozen and shipped frozen, so they go straight into your freezer on arrival. If you will be out, leave delivery instructions at checkout so the box is left somewhere shaded and out of the sun.

How long do the meals keep? They are designed for freezer storage, so a 28 meal bundle does not need to be eaten in a hurry. Follow the use-by date printed on each label.

Can I eat anything besides the meals on a program? Yes, and you should. Every program comes with a Recommended Extras Guide of low-starch vegetables, salads, protein snacks and low-carb fruit specifically so you can add bulk and variety without breaking the calorie target.

Will I be hungry? Some hunger and sugar cravings are normal in the first two to four days and then settle. Every meal carries 20g or more protein precisely because protein is what helps you feel fuller for longer.

Can I exercise on a very low calorie program? Light to moderate activity is generally fine, and we suggest a protein snack within 10 to 30 minutes afterwards. If you train hard, the 1200 or 1500 calorie plans are usually the better match — ask a dietitian rather than guessing.

Is it safe to stay on a Reset long term? We recommend two to eight weeks at a time. Beyond eight weeks, speak with our dietitians so your progress is being supervised.

Can I order if I have a food allergy? Read the full ingredient and allergen statement on the individual product page, including "may contain" warnings, rather than relying on a collection name. If you are unsure, call us before ordering.

Do you deliver to my postcode? Check the postcode lists on the delivery routes page. Coverage is broader than the capital cities and includes much of regional Australia.

Can I buy Be Fit Food in a shop? Yes. Our meals are stocked in Woolworths stores nationwide and in Chemist Warehouse pharmacies, and we have retail stores at Mornington and Mordialloc in Victoria.

How do I make a complaint or raise a concern? Call 1300 263 257 Monday to Friday 9am–5pm, or email support@befitfood.com.au. If your concern is clinical, ask for a dietitian or email dietitian@befitfood.com.au directly.
