Why Fragile Removals for ADF Moves?
At Fragile Removals, we recognise the contribution made by the men and women who serve in the Australian Defence Force. Whether you’re full-time, Reserve, or a Defence Civilian, you give a great deal to this country. Our 10% discount is our way of acknowledging that service and giving something back.
Beyond the discount, you get the same standard of care we bring to every move. Your move coordinator confirms scheduling, parking clearances, and any items that need special handling before the crew arrives. Packing, transport, storage, and delivery can run as one job or be split across stages depending on what your move requires.
Fragile Removals describes AFRA accreditation, more than 20 years of experience and over 50,000 completed relocations. Confirm who will perform each part of your booking, including any separately arranged specialist transport.
ADF Removalist Services
The 10% discount applies across all the following services.
- Local moves. Same-city or same-suburb relocations, whether you’re moving into a private rental, upgrading for a growing family, or setting up a new home ahead of your family arriving. Our crew handles the packing, loading, and placement at the other end.
- Interstate ADF moves. Full-service relocations between Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Cairns, Canberra, Darwin, and Adelaide. Common interstate corridors include Townsville to Canberra, Darwin to Sydney, Brisbane to Melbourne, and Perth to the eastern states. For a full list of interstate routes, get in touch with our team.
- Storage between postings. Short-term and long-term storage for members in transition. Whether you need a few weeks while your next place is sorted or several months between postings, your belongings stay secure and accessible. We can deliver to your new address when you’re ready, anywhere in Australia.
- Packing and unpacking . Our crew wraps, boxes, and labels everything room by room, then unpacks and places items at your new home. For ADF families managing a move while one partner is already at the new posting, this takes a significant load off the person left behind to manage the pack-out.
- Vehicle speciality item transport. Pianos, gym equipment, oversized furniture, and other items that need dedicated handling.
Quoting and Pricing
Every Fragile Removals quote details labour hours, travel time, packing materials, and any optional extras in plain language. Your 10% ADF discount is applied to the total, and the final figure is confirmed before your move date.
If your move involves Defence reimbursement paperwork, let us know at the quoting stage and we’ll format the documentation to suit.
Match the move to the posting and household
Separate the date you need to report for duty from the date the household goods can be collected and delivered. If one family member is already at the new posting, agree who will be present at collection, who can approve a change and who will receive the delivery. Give those arrangements to the move coordinator.
List the household inventory and identify what needs to remain available during the transition. If the new property is not ready, discuss storage before selecting a delivery date. Keep the documents and daily essentials you need outside the load so they are accessible during the gap.
The offer includes serving, Reserve, Defence Civilian and retired personnel as described above, but the accepted evidence should be confirmed for your circumstances. A service discount does not itself establish eligibility for Defence reimbursement or any other employer benefit. Ask the relevant decision-maker about that separately and tell the removalist what invoice or quote format is required.
Check the discount against the whole quote
Ask for the undiscounted scope, the discount and the final amount to be shown clearly. Confirm which services and optional extras are in the total and whether another promotion affects the calculation. No offer-combination rule is established by this description.
If your identification or proof of prior service is not one of the examples, resolve that at booking rather than waiting until the final invoice. If dates or the inventory change, ask for the revised price and discount to be confirmed together.
Make the written scope usable on moving day
Keep one current inventory and identify the destination for each item or group of cartons. Record anything travelling separately, staying behind or needing special care. Update the list if you add, remove or change items after the estimate so the crew is not working from an outdated description.
Check access at collection and delivery, including the route through the building and the distance from vehicle parking. Tell the coordinator about lifts, stairs, narrow turns, restricted hours and large items before the move. A handling plan depends on those details as well as the nominal size of the load.
Agree the order of packing, dismantling, loading, transport, unloading and any setup work. Identify the person who can answer questions at each end and confirm any fixed deadline. If the plan depends on another provider or the new premises being ready, discuss what happens if that step is delayed.
Ask for the insurance arrangements for the goods and any relevant exclusions or excess. Identify who handles a claim or complaint and keep those contact details with the booking. Read moving and storage insurance for the distinction between business cover and cover for the items being moved.
If access, timing or the requested work changes, stop and confirm the revised instructions with the responsible contact. Ask for any price or scheduling effect in writing. At handover, check the agreed placement and tasks against the inventory and raise a concern through the booking process rather than assuming it will be resolved automatically.
Use the detailed quote form to organise the load and access information. How to Choose a Good Removalist provides a checklist for comparing the written scope, responsibility and terms.
Can retired ADF personnel use the published offer?
Yes. The stated eligibility includes retired ADF personnel with proof of prior service, alongside serving members, Reservists and eligible Defence Civilian employees. Explain your circumstances when requesting the quote and ask what evidence will be accepted at booking. The published examples include an ADF Service Card or official Defence identification, but do not assume another document will automatically be sufficient. Confirm the quoted services, the 10% discount and the final amount together so eligibility is resolved before the invoice or moving day.
Does the discount mean Defence will reimburse my move?
No. The supplier's ADF discount and Defence or employer reimbursement are separate decisions. Check the approved expense, quotation requirements and authorisation process with the relevant Defence or employer contact before committing to a move you expect to be reimbursed. Tell Fragile Removals about any required invoice format at the quoting stage. Keep the approved service scope and any optional extras clear, particularly if some costs are personal. The removalist's ability to provide documentation does not establish reimbursement eligibility or approval.
What should the quote specify?
The quote should connect the household move to the posting arrangements: inventory, both addresses, collection and delivery windows, access, packing, storage and any specialist goods. Separate labour, travel, materials and optional work so the undiscounted amount, ADF discount and final total are clear. Identify who can approve changes and who will attend each end if a family member has already relocated. Include any documentation needs early, and ask for revisions to the price and discount together if the load, dates or scope changes.
What if the premises or equipment are not ready on the planned date?
Tell the coordinator which dependency has changed, such as an unavailable home, delayed handover or item not ready for transport. Separate the duty-reporting date from the date the household goods can be received and discuss a revised schedule or storage if necessary. Confirm access to anything needed during the gap and the eventual delivery arrangement. Keep essentials outside the load. The original booking and discount do not establish that added storage, redelivery or a changed timetable is automatically included, so record the revised scope and price.
Which services does the advertised ADF discount cover?
The offer describes 10% off removalist services for verified eligible ADF personnel, including local and interstate moves and storage, with packing and unpacking also described in the service range. Identify the actual services and optional extras you want, then ask for the discount and final total on the written quote. The page does not establish an expiry date or a rule for combining promotions. Confirm those conditions for the booking instead of adding advertised offers together or assuming a discount guarantees a particular date.
How can we organise a move when one family member is already at the new posting?
Nominate the person present at collection, the person receiving delivery and the contact authorised to approve changes. Give each the same current inventory and written scope. Agree who prepares the household, what packing assistance is needed and which documents or essentials remain with the family. Discuss the availability of the new property separately from work commitments and arrange any storage gap in advance. Clear contacts and staged responsibilities let the coordinator plan the move without relying on one person being available in both places.
